Casement & Awning Windows

Grabill offers casement, awning and hopper windows in a variety of configurations which can be integrated with fixed in frame windows and doors. The operable sash is assembled with mortise and tenon joinery for a total sash thickness of 1¾” or 2¼”. European in-swing and American out-swing operation is available. These windows are also available in aluminum or bronze clad.

Out-Swing
Our out-swing casement window is operated by using a bronze push bar or a high quality roto-operator with cover variations. The operable sash is assembled with mortise and tenon joinery and is supported by European exterior “screw-in” hinges or concealed stainless steel hinges. To keep the elements on the outside, the sash is sealed with two uninterrupted weather seals and has a machined-in water channel at the top and sides.

In-Swing
Our contemporary styled in-swing window is operated by a single lever, allowing the window to swing in like a door. Our stainless steel multi-point hardware system ensures a tight seal while providing additional security and increased sash stability for oversized units.

Insect screens are installed on the exterior as a fixed or retractable screen. The in-swing window is also available in bronze or aluminum clad and is compatible with a wide selection of lever designs, from modern to rustic.

Since our in-swing casement systems do not have fixed vertical dividers between sashes, they are ideal for meeting egress requirements while still maintaining elegant sash proportions.

Wood

Wood species are project specified. Grabill uses Smartwood FSC certified Genuine Mahogany and Eucalyptus and sustainable lumber when ever possible. Engineered Douglas Fir laminated cores are also FSC certified with low *VOC emissions. All of our lumber is kiln dried to a moisture content of 6-8% at the time of fabrication.

Knotty Alder, Cherry, Spanish Cedar, Genuine Mahogany, Walnut, Sapele, Douglas Fir, Teak, White Oak, Ponderosa Pine, Eucalyptus, Cypress

Many of our windows are NFRC certified with most glass ratings having low U-Value and Shading Co-Efficient to meet Energy Star 2010 criteria.

True divided lites are our standard and can come with custom profiles in any configuration for single glazed or insulated glass panels. Simulated divided lites as required. Color spacer bar and narrow site line options.

Art Glass Studio
Grabill’s in-house art glass studio allows us to create custom designs and traditional craftsmanship, on windows, doors, and focal points. We provide authentic reproduction and custom leaded art glass along with our antique glass window restoration service. Authentic light and heavy restoration glass options are available. We can provide diamond and square leaded glass panels that stand alone or can set on the interior/exterior side of an insulated glass panel. Grabill also supports local businesses and reduces shipping emissions by purchasing recycled glass materials and Spectrum sealant within 500 miles of our manufacturing location.

Hardware

We offer premier lines of custom hardware.

Multi-point lock options with your choice of levers and trim, traditional push bar operators or roto operators are available. We offer an extensive line of hardware including solid bronze pivot hinges and latches with custom finishes. Specialty hardware as project requires.

Finish

Wood finishes can be primed only, painted or stained to your specifications with samples provided for final approval. Custom rustic and aged antique finishes are also an option.

Grabill uses low *VOC emission paint products, when ever possible, which contain little or no toxins that pollute indoor air, and are water or latex based to decrease hazardous fumes and waste.

Most of our projects are completely finished in house prior to shipping. For painted products Grabill recommends a final paint coat after installation is complete to comply with Grabill Warranty.

*Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are organic chemical compounds that have high enough vapor presser under normal conditions to significantly vaporize and enter the atmosphere.

Screen / Storm

Screen frames are fabricated from anodized aluminum or solid wood with various finish options.

Screen cloth is available in fiberglass, aluminum or bronze wire mesh. Grabill is pleased to include GORETM inLightenTM a window screen made with an ultra-fine material that makes it appear virtually invisible, bringing the outside in with a clearer view, better light and better ventilation.

Retractable Screen is a perfect option for standardized sizes. Screen slides into the natural recess of the door or window frame and virtually disappears when not in use. Screen hardware offers a quite smooth operation and when not in use the screens are protected from dirt, ultra violet light and inclement weather.

Storm windows are a great match for restoration projects using single glazed windows. Screen/storm inserts use the same frame and interchange the screens and storms. Storm windows are made to order for restoration or single glazed window applications.
